LISS (low intensity steady state) walks help you burn fat and regulate incoming energy.
There are two times of day that you may receive the nudge to go for a LISS walk - before your breakfast, and after your last meal of the day. And each is serving a different purpose.
LISS walk in the am: after an extended period without food (overnight) your body is taking energy from your energy stores - your fat cells. By going for a walk before you eat breakfast you are increasing the demand for energy on your body, and thereby driving the fat-burning process.
LISS walk in the evening: after your last meal of the day you want to prepare your body for a restful night. Going for a walk now sharpens your metabolism and makes use of your food more effective. This helps get your body into the ‘post-absorptive state’, where you have digested, used or stored your meal, and will allow your body to focus on overnight recovery and a good night’s sleep.
